WHITEHALL, Ohio – Student-athletes from Whitehall-Yearling High School recently hit the streets for a good cause. The Rams participated in a 26-mile bike ride aimed at raising funds for a scholarship.
Not only was the ride successful, but the student-athletes also held a bike drive that saw the group collect 31 bicycles for students in need.
“The ride started out as just me, and it was a leisurely, casual ride on a challenge, and it’s morphed into this amazing charity ride, and this year we’re donating bikes, it’s just really rewarding. It’s a fun ride,” Greg Wolfson told WSYX.
The ride was supported by officers from the Whitehall, Bexley, and Columbus police departments, who accompanied the riders throughout the event.
“They keep us safe first of all, and if there are any hazards out there, they’re the first ones to call it out, and make sure we’re all safe,” said Wolfson. “They’ve blocked off traffic for us so we’re safe, and it’s a smooth ride for everyone involved, especially with the kids. We want to make sure they’re wearing their helmets and being safe.”
